Now that Spring is arriving I have definitely been craving something fresh so today I decided to make my mom’s homemade salsa. It is a super simple recipe to follow and the results are delicious. I have made it many times before but today I felt like it was super tasty because the tomatoes I used were perfectly ripe and the cilantro was fresh! I will try my best to lay out the steps in the easiest way for you to follow!
Here is a list of everything you will need:
- 4 small-medium sized tomatoes
- 1 medium sized red onion
- 1 large clove of garlic (or 2 small ones)
- 1/2 a lime
- About 1 handful of cilantro
- Salt
- Pepper
- Tortilla chips of your choice
Steps for preparing the salsa:
- As always, make sure you wash the tomatoes beforehand 🙂
- Chop the 4 tomatoes into big chunks
- Dice up 2 of the tomatoes in a blender that has a setting to dice veggies, I personally use a magic bullet (this gives the salsa the liquid texture so you can skip this step if you want your salsa to be more chunky)
- Slice up the leftover 2 tomatoes by hand into diced up chunks (I like half of my tomatoes to be the liquid texture and the other half to be chunky so I still get those little tomato pieces in the final product)
- Dice up the onion into small pieces
- Dice up one large clove of garlic (or two small ones)
- Chop about a handful of fresh cilantro (I usually just “eyeball” how much cilantro I use so if a handful seems like to much to you, it probably is. Just adjust this step to the quantity you prefer)
- Add just a pinch of salt and pepper
- Squeeze the half-lime over the ingredients and mix well
- Finally, dip your tortilla chips of choice in your salsa and enjoy!!! 🙂
I hope you will enjoy this quick and easy recipe as much as I do! It is super tasty (especially if you love onions and garlic as much as I do lol…) + cheap + easy. What more could you ask for 😉 Don’t forget to let me know if you decide to follow this recipe! DM me or leave me a comment bellow.
