Hey guys, I can’t wait to tell you about this treasure I discovered yesterday! I had heard about mountain inns before and knew that there were many around Switzerland with amazing views, but the Gasthaus Alp Scheidegg is so close to home and definitely lived up to the standards of what I thought a typical Swiss “Gasthaus” would be like!
The inn of Alp Scheidegg sits at 1200 meters above sea level and has breathtaking views all around! The Gasthaus has been around since 1926 but is still very beautiful today. Although we didn’t do any tobogganing or paragliding, which are popular activities on this mountain, the drive up the long winding road was a thrill in itself. The road to the top is a long winding road with views of green hills and mountain scenery. From the top the view is even better!

The restaurant is really known for their delicious Cordon Bleu! But I opted for the Blacktiger shrimp pasta, while my sister went for the more traditional Wiener Schnitzel. (seasonally they also serve the classic Swiss treasure: fondue!)

The Gasthaus is located in Wald in the canton of Zürich. Wald is a smaller town nestled away in the rolling hills of the countryside, but it is definitely worth the trip to Alp Scheidegg for the views and food. Seriously, the food was amazing.
I was really happy to experience this place with good food and even better company! Since my sister is visiting me for the first time and we celebrated a special day yesterday, we had a real family feast.

So, if you would like to experience a real Swiss Gasthaus, I would definitely recommend Alp Scheidegg to you! We will definitely be back soon for another visit. If you would like to find out more about the Gasthaus, you can visit their website at https://www.alpscheidegg.ch/.
On the website, you can learn a little more about the history of the Gasthaus and see it in live-time with the webcam feature! You can also check out the many hiking trials that are a great feature of the mountain.
As always, thanks for reading and following along on my Swiss adventure.
xoxo,
Zoë
